The Latest on Amazon Prime Day 2020

Prime Day 2020 has come with many changes, and we aren’t totally in the clear just yet. What is usually the biggest sales event of the year, Prime Day typically falls around mid-July to pick up the slower summer sales months. Last we heard, the “leaked” Prime Day date was set for October 5th, but it seems there is more to be considered before we save the date.

What Sellers Need to Know

Not only is this year set to be the biggest Q4 on Amazon to date, but there are some additional obstacles that Amazon has placed on sellers in the form of FBA inventory limits, and ambiguity in sale dates. As the USPS has shown to be unreliable as of late (and doesn’t look promising moving forward), this could catch sellers in a tough spot with unexpected sales surges and navigating FBM fulfilment within Amazon’s shipping requirements.

Amazon has rumoured sale events around October 15th and running through the end of the month as a “Holiday Sale”.  Could this mean an additional sale between Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday, or could this be a tentative sale for the actual Prime Day sale? Amazon has now put some of their own devices on sale, which is typically reserved for Prime Day. Between this and all the strain on fulfillment, it could mean that Prime Day could be skipped over all together this year. At any rate, sellers will need to stay on their toes this Q4.
